1st @ IEM Engineers Run and 2nd @ Mens Health & Shape Run 2013, both on the same day. Wohoo!!

7 September 2013 is a day of pure awesomeness. I won the IEM Engineers Run in the morning and finished 2nd on the same day at Men's Health & Shape run.
Finished 1st Place
To be honest, I was lucky. This year, the category is split between public, and engineers (IEM = The Institution of Engineers Malaysia). Public have to for the 6.4km run while IEM members can choose whether to run the 3.6km or 6.4km course. So, the fast guys is not in my category. I was 3rd last year and I was faster back then. I did 3.2km in 10:46mins, that's a 3:22mins/km pace. This year I ran 3.6km in 13:32mins, which is a tad slower at 3:45mins/km pace.

The race starts as a mass start, all category starts together. True enough.. I pace from start with the front pack and midway when the route splits between 3.6km and 6.4km route, I was all by myself =_=' .

I slowed down a bit, and just when I thought victory is all mine, Uncle Tan; a veteran barefoot runner overtook me with just less than a kilometer to finish and the cameraman has already been there! Being young and all egoistic, I had to finish first although he is not in the same category. I shift to high gear and sprint on till finish and yeah.. I finish 1st. Hewhewhewhew..
Men 3.6km winners.
Asdi aka Harimau finished 1st in the 6.4km men open category - he was the champ last year too. And for the women category, the daughter of Abang Kamaruzzaman both claimed 1st and 2nd, same as last year.
Men 6.4km winners.
I got back, had a good sleep and went to drive to Putrajaya for Men's Health & Shape run on that same night to run the 5km non-competitive run. I plan to do this as a training run. Equipped with Vibrams Five Fingers KSO Trek, Nike Bermudas, and my Galaxy S3; I ran pacing myself at 180bpm metronome using the loudspeaker from my phone.

There are a few fast runners but somehow I overtook them one by one until I by the end, I finished second leaving the 3rd pace more than a minute behind. I actually came just for the goodie bag, being second.. even it was not a competitive category was a bonus.

It was a good day indeed...
I met old friends from Kapas-Marang Swimathon at Men's Health & Shape Run.
SUCCESS!
